In the Ukrainian city of Odessa, authorities reported at least nine injuries sustained from Russian attacks. Shlosberg's wife's liberal party announced they would appeal the ruling. Russia's state development bank VEB reportedly fired its chief economist after he criticized the economic situation and the Ukraine war, according to insiders.

Economist Andrei Klepatsch had previously said on a financial forum that Russia was falling behind the West and China economically due to the war. VEB confirmed Klepatsch's dismissal without giving a reason, and Klepatsch himself confirmed the move to Reuters. In a statement published on the Nikitski-Club website, Klepatsch said, "We are falling behind.

We are losing technological and economic competition globally. And we are not only losing it to China and the US. In a way, we are also losing it to Ukraine." This was due to Western financial support for Kiev. Klepatsch believed Ukraine would not collapse and that Russia would not either, as their costs would rise.
