Tesla's European registrations uneven in July despite broader EV momentum

Tesla's European vehicle registrations displayed a patchwork of trends in July, with impressive surges in France and Denmark offset by significant drops in Norway and Sweden, according to data from local authorities. French registrations surged 86% year-on-year, while Danish registrations climbed 52%, as reported by PFA and bilstatistik.dk respectively.

Conversely, Norway saw a staggering 97% decline, and Sweden experienced a 60% reduction in Tesla registrations compared to the previous year, as per OFV and Mobility Sweden's figures.

The overall European electric vehicle market has experienced a resurgence this year, buoyed by factors such as reduced year-over-year comparisons, rising fuel prices, government incentives, and heightened consumer interest in electric vehicles. This positive momentum was evident in Tesla's second-quarter delivery figures, which exceeded Wall Street expectations, further spurred by the rebound in Europe.

However, the full picture of Tesla's performance in Europe is yet to be completed as registration data from Britain and Germany, the continent's two largest car markets, is expected to be released later in the week.
