Special rice sales counters opened in Vizag Rythu Bazars

Special rice sales counters, offering steam and raw rice at discounted rates, have opened in Vizag Rythu Bazars as part of an initiative by the Civil Supplies Department. The counters, which operate under the guidance of the State government, aim to make rice more affordable for consumers. Gobbilla Vidyadhari, In-charge District Collector, and Visakhapatnam MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju inaugurated the counter at Seethammadhara Rythu Bazar on Monday, along with a similar inauguration at Gajuwaka Rythu Bazar by MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao and MVP Rythu Bazar by MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu.

Under the scheme, white ration card holders continue to receive 5 kg of free rice monthly, while eligible families can purchase up to 10 kg of rice at prices lower than the market rate. Vidyadhari urged consumers to take advantage of the facility and directed officials to ensure its smooth implementation. The initiative is set to be rolled out in seven Rythu Bazars across Visakhapatnam district.
