Power tussle rocks Obi, Kwankwaso campaign teams

Internal conflict has erupted within the OK Movement, a political support organization aimed at rallying support for the joint presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso. The dispute emerged following the appointment of Peter Ameh as the National Director-General, a move that drew criticism as several members questioned the authority of Jackie Wayas, the individual who announced the appointment.

The controversy deepened when the organization's past National Publicity Secretary, Justin Ijeh, acknowledged the existence of disagreements but urged for resolution behind closed doors. Ijeh emphasized that while differences are inevitable in political organizations, they should not be aired publicly as it could harm the group's broader objective of winning elections.

The current Director-General of the OK Movement, John Ughulu, dismissed Justin Ijeh as a fired official and accused a rival faction of attempting to seize control of the organization. Ughulu maintained that Ijeh no longer has the authority to represent the movement and reiterated his stance that the initial agreement between Obi and Kwankwaso remains intact, with the OK Movement intended to persist even after the 2027 election should Peter Obi decide to run for president again in 2031.
