La creación anual de empleo extranjero supera por primera vez la de españoles

Spain's economy is highly seasonal, owing to the dominance of tourism. Consequently, Social Security affiliation statistics exhibit similar patterns month over month, with dramatic surges during good weather and declines when terraces close. In such short-term analyses, it was already observed that employment created by foreigners could surpass that generated among Spanish nationals, given these seasonal dynamics.

However, this primacy has now shifted to annual data, which go beyond these fluctuations. This change has largely occurred due to a specific factor: the regularization effort pushed by the Executive. For the first time since consolidated records of foreign affiliation began (in 2012), job creation from abroad surpassed that of Spaniards in June, in year-over-year terms. The Latin American group (led by Colombians and Venezuelans) facilitated this trend reversal.
