Toll prices cut for Sydney motorists except on two major motorways

The New South Wales state government has announced a reduction in toll prices for various motorways in Sydney, excluding two major highways. The Lane Cove Tunnel, M2, and Cross City Tunnel will see a 10% decrease in July 2027, with the M7 distance cap reducing by 10% starting January 2028. Cross City Tunnel tolls will drop by 20% when the Western Harbour Tunnel opens in 2028.

Motorcyclists will receive a 50% reduction on all motorways from July 2027. The government claims these changes are modest but will benefit drivers in the long run. The WestConnex and NorthConnex tolls will remain unaffected due to complex negotiations. Transport Minister John Graham acknowledged the price cuts, stating they were welcome improvements, while opposition leader Natalie Ward criticized the government's "half-done job."

The reductions will cost the budget $143 million over five years, with the M7 price adjustments contingent on a $850 million widening of the M2 and M7. Private toll road operators will contribute $75 million to maintain the weekly toll cap, funded partly through two-way tolling of existing roads.
