Samsung's new Galaxy Z Fold 8 series has been a resounding success, causing shipping delays due to demand that is reportedly three times higher than the demand for the previous Fold 7 model. Last year's Fold 7 was already a significant success, helping to revive Samsung's foldable device lineup. In the United States, the Fold 7 saw a 50% increase in sales compared to its predecessor.

Early reports suggest that the Fold 8 is experiencing even greater demand, though it is unclear whether this applies to both the standard Fold 8 and the Ultra model.

Korean media outlets indicate that pre-order demand for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is roughly three times higher than for the Fold 7. This unprecedented demand has led Samsung to inform customers that there will be delays in shipping for popular configurations. The base Galaxy Z Fold 8, the wide variant, is particularly affected, with shipping dates pushed back into October. The Ultra model, while experiencing a slight delay of a few days to about three weeks, is not as severely impacted in terms of shipping dates.

Both the base Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Ultra model were technically available for shipping as of August 7. However, other retailers such as Best Buy and Amazon have not reported the same level of delays. Best Buy still lists the Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra as available for pickup or shipping by August 7, and Amazon does not list any delays for these devices.

While Samsung offers the best pre-order perks, there are still attractive deals available from other retailers for those looking to get their hands on the new foldable device sooner.
