Casemiro said he wanted to play for us - Galaxy GM

Casemiro revealed to Los Angeles Galaxy general manager Will Kuntz that he "only wanted to play for them" after the club's investigation into his transfer to Inter Miami. The 34-year-old Brazil midfielder, who completed his move to Inter Miami on a free transfer from Manchester United in July, signed a deal that extends until the end of the 2027 MLS campaign.

This came two months after Casemiro expressed to Galaxy that his sole desire was to play for the Galaxy. MLS is currently reviewing Inter Miami's signing of the five-time Champions League winner, focusing on the player's discovery rights - a regulation that grants a specific club first refusal over a player if they wish to join.

The league announced the inquiry shortly after the signing was revealed, stating they would refrain from further comment until the review concluded. While both teams reached a settlement for Casemiro's discovery priority, the terms will only be disclosed following the investigation's completion. An MLS club can have up to five players on their discovery list, a rule implemented since the league's inception in 1996.

The California-based team held Casemiro's discovery rights, but Inter Miami claimed they had acquired them from the Galaxy. In a statement, the Galaxy said they and Inter Miami had reached a settlement for Casemiro's discovery priority, with the terms set to be released once the tampering investigation is complete. Casemiro had earlier made his intentions known to Galaxy, expressing his love for Miami and his wife and children's presence during their off days.

He also highlighted Miami's allure due to its project and the chance to play alongside Messi, who he considers the best player of all time. BBC Sport has contacted Casemiro's agent and Inter Miami for further comment.
