'Bankipur won't become Bengaluru overnight': Prashant Kishor after big win in Bihar

Bankipur may not transform into Bengaluru overnight, but visible improvements are expected in the coming two to three months, according to Prashant Kishor, founder of Jan Suraaj Party. Kishor secured a significant victory in the Assembly bypoll with 64,151 votes, outpacing his nearest rival, BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha, by 19,324 votes.

Speaking to supporters after the latest round of counting, Kishor clarified that his role as an MLA would not elevate Bankipur to the stature of Bengaluru, but rather bring about some positive changes over the next few months. His immediate focus, he said, would be to leverage the support he has received to effect improvements in the region.

Kishor also reiterated his criticism of Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, asserting that the state's progress hinges on competent leadership rather than personal affiliations. Despite the BJP's majority in Bihar, Kishor urged the alliance to select a capable leader as the next chief minister to drive the state forward. He emphasized that the Bankipur bypoll was not merely about local issues, but a statement about who should govern Bihar.

Kishor's win marks a landmark victory for his party, securing its first-ever seat in the Bihar Assembly after a long absence in the 2025 state elections.
