William Shatner, 95, Says He’s Playing at Coachella in 2027

William Shatner, the 95-year-old actor, may have unwittingly announced one of Coachella's first 2027 performances. During an appearance on CNN's "No Time But Now" podcast with his daughter Melanie Shatner Gretsch, Shatner discussed his excitement for his upcoming heavy metal album and band, The *uckers. When asked about what he was most looking forward to, Shatner enthusiastically replied, "My heavy metal!"

Upon further inquiry, he revealed that the band would be performing at "the one in the desert," leading to a collective statement from both Shatner and Gretsch confirming Coachella as the location. The heavy metal band, formed earlier this year, features Shatner alongside Marcus Nand, Phil Soussan, Britt Lightning, and Fred Aching.

Their setlist will include songs from Shatner's musical catalog, as well as previews of the upcoming album, "What the F Is Heavy Metal." Shatner expressed his passion for performing with the group, emphasizing the importance of feeling the music and delivering the lyrics with conviction. While Coachella has not officially announced its 2027 lineup, Shatner's mention of the festival comes just weeks after Riot Fest confirmed him as one of its unique bookings.

Organizers had even jokingly requested a rider with extravagant elements such as fire breathers, a DeLorean, and Polish sausage backstage. If Shatner's participation is indeed confirmed, he will join Coachella fresh from his Riot Fest debut in April.
