Top-ranked high school football running back Landen Williams-Callis commits to Univ. of Texas

Landen Williams-Callis, considered the premier high school running back in Texas and one of the nation's most sought-after football recruits, announced on Saturday night that he will commit to play at the University of Texas. The announcement was made in Richmond, Texas, in the presence of friends and family. Weighing his over 70 college offers down to just five - University of Houston, Texas A&M, Texas, SMU, and Missouri - Williams-Callis ultimately chose to become a Longhorn.

He divulged his decision was made on Saturday morning, overwhelmed by the opportunities at his fingertips.

Williams-Callis' selection of Texas comes as the result of a thrilling summer as he dominated the Texas high school all-time leading rushing list with 3,502 yards in the 2023 season. Over three years at Randle High School, he amassed a total of 7,554 rushing yards. He is just 3,828 yards away from breaking the Mount Pleasant's Keagan Ash record of 11,382 yards. Williams-Callis is confident about breaking that record during his senior year at Randle High School.

Randle High School, under Williams-Callis' guidance, has had an impressive run, with a record of 42-3 and made state championship appearances in the last two seasons. The Lion ran for 102 yards and a touchdown in the 2024 first-ever state championship win, earning the game MVP award after Randle upset South Oak Cliff 38-35.
