The Board of Peace is a failed body and should be abandoned

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad has agreed to a disarmament deal proposed by US President Donald Trump's Board of Peace, according to a report by Saudi state-owned Al-Hadath. The deal, announced by Trump on Thursday night, calls for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in the Gaza Strip, following which an IDF withdrawal would take place. The International Stabilization Force (ISF) would then begin reconstruction efforts in cooperation with new civil forces.

However, Israel has criticized the agreement, stating that its implementation is contingent upon disarming Hamas as a prerequisite. A Palestinian source, speaking to Israeli public broadcaster KAN News late Saturday night, asserted that "Hamas will not disarm. Period." The source added that Hamas began distributing individual weapons to its operatives in the Gaza Strip as the deal was being announced, with the aim of ensuring weapons remained in the hands of Hamas members under the pretext of personal ownership.
