Skills, not degrees, will shape future, says APSCHE Chairman at Vignan convocation

Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) chairman Prof. K. Madhu Murthy emphasized that a student's employability now hinges more on skills than academic degrees. At the Fourth Convocation of the Centre for Distance and Online Education at Vignan University in Guntur district, Prof. Murthy encouraged students to adopt lifelong learning, innovation, and adaptability to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.

He clarified that a degree merely grants access to opportunities, while long-term success is contingent upon skills, character, sound judgment, and the capacity to adapt. Renowned playback singer S.P. Sailaja, who received an honorary doctorate, advised students to pursue their ambitions with sincerity and perseverance, asserting that nothing is unattainable when dedication and passion drive one's endeavors.

She urged graduates to cherish values, discipline, and gratitude towards their educators. Vignan University's Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.V. Krishna Kishore announced that 1,425 students, comprising 884 MBA, 429 MCA, 63 BCA, and 49 BBA graduates, were conferred degrees. Dr. Lavu Rathaiah, Chairman of Vignan Educational Institutions, urged students to embrace artificial intelligence with courage and wisdom, ensuring its use complements creativity, integrity, and independent thinking, rather than supplanting them.

Lavu Sri Krishnadevarayalu, Vice-Chairman, underscored the significance of lifelong learning, resilience, and mental well-being. Chancellor Dr. Pavuluri Subba Rao implored graduates to become job creators through innovation and entrepreneurship.
