Love story: We brought home three orphaned children on the same day

The couple spent three years attempting to adopt a child in Australia, but they were not approved to begin the seven-year waiting list. During this time, Anna shared an idea with Mark about moving to Africa, and within six months, they had relocated to Tanzania. They chose Tanzania owing to its safe environment for families with young children, the potential for both Mark and Anna to work, and the possibility of legally adopting children from the country.

The Dombkins were committed to finding children who were legitimately abandoned and whose adoption processes were ethical. They found their first set of adoptive children in a baby home in Tanzania. After being unable to reunite twins Shay and Charlie with their biological families, the couple brought them home. They also learned of a malnourished baby named Jabari, who was nine months older than his twin siblings, and offered to adopt him as well.
