Jagan condemns Alur MLA’s arrest, alleges political vendetta

YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy condemned the arrest of Alur MLA B. Virupakshi, alleging a political vendetta by the TDP-led coalition government. He expressed concern over the large police presence at the legislator's residence and questioned the arrest of Virupakshi and his son. Jagan stated that the arrest stemmed from an attack on a YSRCP leader's residence in Nemakallu village, where Virupakshi sought protection for his family.

The former Chief Minister alleged that TDP workers had attacked the MLA during his visit to the village, and his brother Sriramulu had been injured in the incident. Instead of taking action against the attackers, the government had registered attempt-to-murder cases against the MLA and other YSRCP workers. Jagan also questioned the seizure of CCTV hard disks from the MLA's residence, alleging it was an attempt to prevent the release of footage of the police action.

He further alleged that several YSRCP leaders had been booked in various cases for opposing the government. The former Chief Minister vowed that the YSRCP would continue to support its workers and that arrests, police actions, and criminal cases would not deter the party from fighting what he called a political vendetta and injustice.
