Israel was meant to join major US attack on Iran before Trump decided to call it off - report

According to US officials, Israel was initially planned to participate in a significant US-led attack on Iran. However, the plan was abandoned when President Donald Trump opted to cancel the operation after pressure from Qatar and Saudi Arabia. One official explained that Israel had informed the US that if the attack did not target key Iranian economic and regime sites, it would be futile.

The officials added that Trump was more inclined towards the attack than ever before, but his decision was swayed by the Middle Eastern nations urging him to give Iran another chance for negotiations. On Saturday night, Trump expressed his willingness to negotiate with Iran through a post on Truth Social, stating that he had called off a large-scale attack against the country and that Israel would support him in this commitment.

The US administration has vowed to remain "locked and loaded" and prepared for military action against Iran, projecting a level of military strength reminiscent of World War II. Trump further announced that the deal would necessitate the full opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the cessation of Iran's nuclear threat.
