Iran warns US against fresh strikes as tensions threaten Gulf oil supplies and shipping

Iran has warned the United States against further strikes, threatening a decisive retaliation if American forces act on President Donald Trump’s threats of attacking Iranian targets. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi conveyed this message in phone calls with senior officials from Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. Araqchi stated that Iran would respond to any aggression and highlighted the risks of destabilizing actions by the US, as well as the potential for increased regional insecurity.

If the US attacks Iranian energy infrastructure, Iran has threatened to strike oil fields in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, gas fields in Qatar, and Israel. At a cabinet meeting in Camp David, Trump expressed his belief that US negotiators could still reach a deal with Iran, but also admitted he was losing faith in Tehran, claiming they often break their promises.

Trump vowed to "hit them," and high oil prices have persisted since the war began on February 28. The conflict has deterred shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global energy supplies, leading to concerns about economic repercussions.
