Glasgow restaurant to correct India map after Lovlina raises Northeast issue

India's boxing team celebrated record-breaking success at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with a celebratory dinner at Mister Singh's India, The Home of Curry, a popular Indian restaurant in the city. However, the evening took an unexpected turn when boxer Lovlina Borgohain, representing Assam, pointed out a glaring omission on the restaurant's map of India. Lovlina, an Olympic medallist, noticed that the Northeastern states were conspicuously absent from the map printed on the restaurant's napkins and displayed outside.

Boxing Federation of India (BFI) president Ajay Singh addressed the issue, clarifying that there was no confrontation with the restaurant management during the celebratory dinner. Singh explained that it was an aberration and that Lovlina and himself had pointed out the mistake, to which the restaurant management agreed and assured that it would be corrected. Singh's assurance came via the news agency PTI.

Lovelina, visibly hurt by the oversight, expressed her sentiments in a video shared on social media. She emphasized that even the map displayed outside the restaurant had cut off the North East, a fact that she found deeply disheartening as someone hailing from the region. Lovlina's request was simple – to ensure that such an oversight does not happen again. Mister Singh's India, The Home of Curry, a well-known Indian restaurant in Glasgow, has a history of hosting visiting sports teams and dignitaries.
