Exco N Sembilan dimuktamad selewatnya Jumaat ini, kata MB

Pemerintah Negeri Sembilan will officially announce the 10-member Executive Council (Exco) on the eve of next Friday, Minister of Agriculture, Ismail Lasim announced. Speaking to reporters, he said a discussion led by the Barisan Nasional (BN) will be held prior to the submission of the list to the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz.

The meeting with Umno President, Zahid Hamidi, is expected to take place soon to gather insights on the Exco list, including the involvement of National Action Party (PN) parliamentarians.

"Islam wants us to complete the task this weekend, ideally before Friday. If possible, as Tuanku suggests, we will finalize it in the shortest possible time," he said during his first media briefing after taking the oath of office. Earlier, Ismail, who also represents Juasseh, administered his oath as the Chief Minister of Negeri Sembilan in the presence of Tuanku Muhriz at the Perdana Seri Menanti Palace.

He did not yet specify the size of the Exco, but he believed that 10 members as previously planned were suitable for state administration. Regarding the nomination of the Exco and the distribution of portfolios, he mentioned that these aspects have not been examined yet and will be considered following the conclusion of the party leaders' discussions.

"Involvement of PN MPs in the Exco list will also be looked into with the president (Zahid)," he added.

When asked about the priority for the government's initial term in office, Ismail stated that the welfare of the people remains the primary focus of the state government. As a people-elected government, he emphasized that their welfare is the ultimate goal and long-term focus of the state administration. The PRN election results last night saw BN winning 18 seats, while PN garnered seven seats, enabling the two alliances to form a government with a two-thirds majority. A total of 36 DUN seats were contested during this PRN election, involving 103 candidates.
