13yo boy dies in crash involving suspected stolen car

In a tragic incident at Lake Macquarie in the NSW Hunter region, a 13-year-old boy lost his life in a crash involving a suspected stolen car. The vehicle, an SUV, veered off the road and collided with a nearby field. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene of the accident in Gateshead around 3am. Upon arrival, they found a SUV had left the road and crashed into a nearby field.

Tragically, the 13-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene. A 14-year-old boy, who was seated inside the vehicle, sustained leg injuries and was subsequently arrested. It was later revealed that two other occupants fled the scene prior to the arrival of the police. Another 14-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were subsequently apprehended by the authorities and are currently undergoing treatment in John Hunter Hospital under police supervision.

A crime scene was established following the incident and is currently under investigation. Police have confirmed that the vehicle in question had been stolen from the Swansea area the previous night. An appeal has been made to the public for any witnesses to come forward with information. A comprehensive report will subsequently be prepared for the coroner to review.
