Zelenskyy: Ukraine intercepted only one of 27 Russian ballistic missiles

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine intercepted only one of the 27 ballistic missiles launched during Russia's overnight mass attack due to a lack of interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems. The shortage of interceptors, Zelenskyy asserted, only serves to encourage Russia to conduct such attacks against human life.

The Ukrainian president emphasized the urgent need for partners to recognize the importance of these systems not only in warehouses but also in use, to contain and halt Russia's war in Ukraine.

Kyiv, the primary target of Russia, was not the only region affected by the attack. Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Poltava oblasts also faced Russian forces' strikes. Emergency crews worked tirelessly after the overnight attack in Kyiv and surrounding areas. Seven districts were impacted, with 18 buildings, a school, the Lithuanian Embassy, and infrastructure facilities damaged.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia attacked Ukraine with 35 missiles and 185 drones of various types. Air defenses successfully neutralized 156 targets, including 154 drones, one Iskander-M/S-400 missile, and one Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missile. Fires broke out in several districts, causing damage to buildings and infrastructure.

In the Solomianskyi district, a five-story apartment building was partially destroyed, and seven people were killed in the Darnytskyi district. Nine people, including a police officer, were killed in Kyiv, and thirty people were injured, with four of them being children.
