Two killed as plane crashes into house near Bremen

Two men have lost their lives after a small plane collided with a house in Ganderkesee, a locality close to Bremen. The tragic event also rendered a family homeless. The deceased men were aged 65 and 77 years. The plane had embarked from Bremen and was en route to Ganderkesee when it unexpectedly lost altitude and crashed into the roof of a detached house.

Fortunately, the occupants of the house were not present at the time of the incident, as reported by t-online. Neighboring homes were evacuated to facilitate cleanup efforts. Initially, police reported that one man aboard the plane had perished while the other was missing. However, the second man was found deceased during the recovery operation.

Turgut Pencereci, the 65-year-old victim, was identified as the head of the State Water Authority in Brandenburg. The reasons behind the mishap remain under investigation, with technical faults and medical issues having been dismissed as potential causes. The family residing in the house struck by the plane now finds themselves without a home.

A GoFundMe campaign was launched on their behalf, requesting financial support "not to arouse compassion, but to show camaraderie and relieve the family at this difficult time". The fundraiser, which has since concluded, managed to gather 11,820 euros from 271 contributors. According to NDR, the repair costs are estimated to reach approximately one million euros.
