France will experience a solar eclipse on Wednesday, August 12th. During this celestial event, the Moon will pass between the Sun and Earth, partially blocking the Sun's disk. This phenomenon will occur when the Sun, Moon, and Earth align perfectly. Although France will not witness a complete total eclipse, observers will still be able to see more than 90 percent of the sun obscured by the Moon.

The eclipse is expected to commence around 7:20pm, with peak visibility around 8:20pm in France, when the low western horizon will showcase the event.

In the absence of proper protective eyewear, alternative viewing techniques can be employed. One method involves projecting an image of the Sun using a small hole in aluminum foil or cardboard onto a light surface on the ground. Another approach is to observe the shadows cast by natural "slits," such as gaps between tree leaves on a sunny day.

The next total solar eclipse visible from France will occur on September 3rd, 2081. However, those eager to witness another remarkable solar event may want to prepare for an annular eclipse, which will traverse southern France and Spain on January 26th, 2028. Following the eclipse, a partial lunar eclipse is set to take place in the early hours of August 28th.
