BUKIT MERTAJAM, Nov 8 — Intense rain in Central Seberang Perai triggered flooding in several districts on November 8 evening, with fallen trees causing damages to vehicles and a building structure. The Central Seberang Perai District Disaster Management Committee announced that the impacted regions included Seberang Jaya, Permatang Rawa, Tanah Liat, Mengkuang Titi, and Jalan Baru, after the rain commenced around 4:30pm.

It highlighted that several houses faced water level rise, while drainage issues were reported in Seberang Jaya. As of 8pm, no temporary relief centers had been set up, and continuous monitoring of flood-prone areas was ongoing. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the two separate incidents involving fallen trees. In one incident, a Proton Saga taxi parked near Desa Sutera Square in Perai had its roof partially damaged when a tree fell on it at 6:01pm.

The Penang Fire and Rescue Department sent seven personnel from Perai Fire and Rescue Station, backed by Bandar Perda station personnel, to the scene for tree-cutting and clearance work. In another case, a tree fell onto a Perodua Bezza and part of a house in Mengkuang Titi, Kubang Semang, at the same time. Six fire department personnel from Penanti Fire and Rescue Station responded to the distress call and completed the necessary work by 6:48pm before handing over the scene to the house owner.
