Two clerics predicted my legal troubles — Actor Baba Ijesha

Convicted Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha has claimed that two clerics had warned him about future legal issues involving women before his imprisonment, though he ignored their advice. The actor identified Prophetess Abimbola Ajayi, founder of the Love of Christ Generation Church, and Pastor Israel Ogundipe, known as Genesis, as the individuals who had foreseen the trouble.

During a 2022 interview, Baba Ijesha recounted meeting Ajayi at her UK church, where she allegedly warned him about a short, dark-complexioned individual who could cause him legal trouble. She advised him to pray and visit her church for prayers to avert the predicted problems, however, the actor did not adhere to her advice after returning to Nigeria.

The actor also recounted an encounter with Pastor Ogundipe, describing him as a genuine prophet who had received divine messages, which aligned with someone connected to the ongoing controversy. This account comes years after Baba Ijesha's conviction and imprisonment for the sexual assault and indecent treatment of a child in 2022, following allegations that arose in 2021.

The Lagos State High Court sentenced him to concurrent five-year and three-year prison terms, which were later upheld by the Court of Appeal. Despite controversies surrounding his release, the state clarified that he was not acquitted but completed his prison sentence and was added to Lagos State's sex offenders' register.
