Tarik Skubal's Choice In Free Agency Should Be Crystal Clear
Tarik Skubal is the best player on the open market this year
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tarik Skubal is the top free agent this offseason, with a record-breaking contract expected soon. The two-time Cy Young Award winner will sign with a team, and the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets are the frontrunners. While the Mets may offer a larger total value to make him one of the richest pitchers in history, the Dodgers can provide a real chance to win the World Series.
Despite falling short of a three-peat this year, the Dodgers have a roster full of All-Stars and the best rotation in baseball. The team has also relied on deals with deferred money, and even though they lost to the Milwaukee Brewers in the Fall Classic, they were once considered favorites to win the 2027 World Series. Skubal will receive a substantial paycheck regardless of where he signs, but it would be wise for him to join a team that has a consistent chance at winning the championship each year.
