Soul Glo’s Diaspora Problems is a hardcore record like no other
Soul Glo has a new record called NA I'M GON GRAB ALLAT coming out in January, and I, for one, can not wait. While two singles have dropped, it's not enough to truly tide me over, so I've been revisiting Songs to Yeet at the Sun and my favorite album of 2022 - Diaspora Problems. […]
Diaspora Problems stands as one of the standout punk albums of the 21st century. Soul Glo presents NA I'M GON GRAB ALLAT in January, and with two singles released, anticipation only grows. The album, my favorite of 2022, is already replayed frequently. "Gold Chain Punk (whogonbeatmyass?)" serves as an explosive prologue. Pierce Jordan's energetic delivery, transitioning from a bong-induced catchy hardcore riff to a half-time stomp unleashing furor.
The music ebbs and flows through various sections, yet the intensity remains unwavering. Jordan's vocal cords are pushed to the limit, pleading, "Can I live?" before clarifying "Say more, say less, it's all the same, when it's time to die we can meet outside." The album maintains this relentless pace, showcasing Jordan's multifaceted lyrical content ranging from leftist rhetoric to depictions of depression.
"Driponomics," with its trap snares and guest verse, bridges modern influences with hardcore roots. The album peaks with "Spiritual Level Of Gang Shit," featuring contributions from McKinley Dixon and Lojii. With a blend of genre-bending, confrontational politics, and uncompromising style, Soul Glo's Diaspora Problems is a force to be reckoned with. Available on major streaming platforms, this record is a must-listen for any hardcore enthusiast.
