Prove you’ve delivered 97% of manifesto promises, Adly tells BN

Melaka Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Adly Zahari has challenged Barisan Nasional (BN) to provide concrete evidence backing its claim of fulfilling 97% of its promises outlined in the 2021 state election manifesto. This challenge arose after BN's Melaka chairman and chief minister Ab Rauf Yusoh announced that the state government had managed to fulfill 97% of its manifesto pledges from 2021 to 2026, based on a review spanning those years.

Adly urged BN to publish a comprehensive list of its accomplishments, enabling voters to evaluate the status of the 103 initiatives grouped under five primary goals.

Adly emphasized the importance of transparency in reporting manifesto achievements to allow for an accurate assessment of government commitments based on real-life implementation, rather than relying solely on percentage figures. He also referred to the Auditor-General's Report, which revealed a financial deficit in 2024, with revenue at RM490 million against an expenditure of RM519 million.

The report highlighted the necessity of prudent financial management and precise documentation of government spending to ensure that expenditures yield verifiable outcomes.

Adly pointed out that while revenue may rise, careful management of expenditure deserves equal priority. He added that Melaka experienced a financial surplus of RM50 million in 2019 when he was in charge of the state government. The Melaka state election is set to take place on November 14, with early voting scheduled for November 10.
