Pengunduran PH tidak dijangka, tak diminta, kata Rauf
Ketua menteri Melaka berkata pentadbirannya tetap mampu berkhidmat kepada rakyat walaupun wakil PH menarik diri daripada kerajaan negeri Julai lalu.
Melaka Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh stated that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) party's decision to withdraw from governance in July last year was neither expected nor sought, following nearly three years of collaboration within the Barisan Nasional (BN) government. The BN Melaka secretary expressed that he granted trust to the PH representative to join the state administration without any suspicion since being appointed Chief Minister in February 2023.
Rauf highlighted that throughout his tenure, the foundation was set without suspicion. However, he emphasized that the withdrawal of the PH representative's seat did not diminish his ability to continue serving the people. Five PH MP's from Melaka withdrew from state administration on July 16, following the approval of a constitutional amendment related to the election of a new MP.
These five MPs are Adly Zahari (Bukit Katil), Allex Seah Shoo Chin (Kesidang), Kerk Chee Yee (Ayer Keroh), Low Chee Leong (Kota Laksamana), and Leng Chau Yen (Banda Hilir). The amendments saw Allex stepping down from his exco positions for development, cooperatives, and public utilities, Kerk taking over as speaker, while Low and Leng took over exco positions.
Rauf highlighted his greatest achievement was not merely the execution of large-scale projects, but addressing the people's problems. He explained that this approach was carried out through the Representative for the People (WRUR) program, which allowed the state government to identify and address citizen concerns in each district.
Citizens submitted their concerns two months before the program through the Melaka District and Regional Planning Committee (Japerun), which was then approved by local councilors and district officers for actions by representatives and exco members. Issues addressed included poorly maintained rural roads, lack of street lights, dark burial grounds, street lamp donations, and supplies to patients in remote areas.
Rauf stated that this approach was also used to address school issues, assist agricultural activities, and meet the needs of small fishermen and farmers. "Don't ask me what the greatest achievement was. The greatest achievement is when the people feel our presence in resolving their problems. That is the achievement I am most proud of and touched by, when the needy people find solutions to their problems," he said.
