Patrick Mahomes Could Get New WR Ahead of NFL Trade Deadline

The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly exploring a wide receiver trade ahead of the NFL deadline with an eye on the Jacksonville Jaguars' Brian Thomas Jr. Thomas, a third-year NFL player, was selected 23rd overall by the Jaguars in 2024 from LSU. He had an impressive rookie season with 87 receptions for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns, earning Pro Bowl honors.

Thomas' performance dipped slightly last season, as he recorded 48 receptions for 707 yards and two touchdowns. The Chiefs, who have lost two consecutive games following a 5-0 start, are looking for a wide receiver to bolster their offense. ESPN reports that the team is interested in Thomas, who has been linked to several teams, including the Chiefs.

Kansas City's starting wide receiver Xavier Worthy may need additional support, as the team currently lacks depth at the position. Jacob De Jesus has been signed to the practice squad to serve as insurance if the Chiefs fail to secure another wideout. Thomas's young age and potential make him an attractive option for the Chiefs, but the front office still has several decisions to make before any potential deal can be finalized.
