Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang admitted to having an affair with an alleged Chinese spy, according to CNBC. In an email to Nvidia staff on Sunday, Huang wrote that he was "unfaithful to my wife" and that the incident "hurt her and our children." He expressed deep regret for his actions, stating, "There is no excuse for what I did." Huang assured employees that Nvidia's board of directors had opened an independent investigation into the allegations.
Axios reported that the board expressed no concern about potential national security risks or the compromise of company secrets. They reaffirmed their confidence in Huang's leadership. The investigation will examine all available information, according to the board's statement. However, Nvidia spokesperson John Rizzo confirmed that Huang would continue serving as CEO without interruption.
Huang wrote in his letter to staff that he is committed to protecting Nvidia and supporting American national security. Despite requests from U.S. lawmakers for Huang to appear before a closed-door committee, he has not confirmed if he will attend. When asked by the New York Times if Huang would testify before lawmakers, Rizzo stated that Huang's interactions with the alleged spy were similar to those he has had with Nvidia's customers.
