1. In the episode "Lone Witness," Neil Patrick Harris, known for his role in Doogie Howser, M.D., appeared as a delivery boy named Tommy Remsen. He told Jessica Fletcher about witnessing her neighbor Monica Evers dead, which eventually led to Remsen's investigation and exonerating him.
2. Tom Selleck, best known for his role in Magnum, P.I., played Thomas Magnum in the Season 3 episode "Magnum on Ice." Fletcher investigated when Magnum was framed for two murders in Hawaii, showcasing Selleck's action-oriented detective skills in contrast to Lansbury's refined character.
3. Courteney Cox, famous for her role on Friends, portrayed Monica Bannister in the two-part Season 3 opener "Death Stalks the Big Top." She believed her grandfather Neil (Jackie Cooper) had sent her a silver leprechaun, leading to a reunion with him in a traveling circus.
4. Bryan Cranston, known for his roles in Malcolm in the Middle and Malcolm in the Middle, appeared in the Season 2 episode "Menace, Anyone?" as Brian East, a tennis player engaged to Carol McDermott. Cranston's role was short-lived, as his character was killed in a car explosion meant for McDermott.
