New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani appeared on Fox News to discuss the recent midterm elections and the "blue wave" that swept the United States. However, when the conversation shifted to his own socialist views, Fox News host Shannon Bream was caught off guard. The exchange highlighted Mamdani's nuanced stance on controversial issues, with Bream asking about various policies, to which Mamdani consistently replied, "No."
When Bream posed the question, "Do you think DSA is gonna kick you out?", Mamdani responded, "No." He explained that within a roomful of socialists, disagreements are inevitable, but the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) unites members around a core belief in the dignity of working-class people and the importance of democracy extending beyond the ballot box to every aspect of life.
Mamdani also addressed the perceived extreme views of the DSA, noting that the midterm election results demonstrate Americans' dissatisfaction with the status quo and their demand for change. He cited the various Democratic candidates who won, who ran on issues directly impacting working-class Americans, such as universal pre-K, ending endless wars, affordable housing, and a moratorium on data centers. Mamdani emphasized his pride in being a member of the DSA and delivering for New Yorkers.
