Karachi-Born Politician to Run for 2028 US Presidency

US Senator Christopher Van Hollen, born in Karachi on January 10, 1959, is contemplating a bid for the US presidency in 2028. The Democratic representative from Maryland disclosed his interest in the race to Fox 5, stating his focus is on a presidential campaign, not the Senate leadership. Van Hollen's potential candidacy follows the Democrats' success in the recent midterm elections.

He was previously considered a possible candidate to replace Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer, but his recent statements have shifted focus towards his possible White House campaign. Van Hollen, the son of an American foreign service officer, has a personal connection with Pakistan, which he fondly recalls from his early life spent in both Pakistan and India.

He attended Kodaikanal International School in India before moving to the United States for his higher education. Van Hollen holds a philosophy degree from Swarthmore College, a master's degree in public policy from Harvard University, and a law degree from Georgetown University.
