Dashcam footage? Police seek witnesses after couple from Cheras die in North-South Highway skid

Seremban, November 8 — An elderly Malaysian couple met a tragic end when their vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a drain on the northbound side of the North-South Expressway. Rembau District Police Chief Supt Ngiam Ooi Ming revealed that the 75-year-old man succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while his 70-year-old wife passed away later at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital around 8 pm.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the Proton Saga, driven by a 20-year-old man and carrying a 21-year-old female passenger, was en route from Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, to Port Dickson. According to police, a group of motorcyclists riding in convoy were reportedly overtaking the couple’s vehicle before suddenly veering into its path, causing a loss of control and resulting in the fatal skid.

The female passenger sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Rembau Hospital, while the driver was unharmed. Police are treating the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and are actively seeking to identify the group of motorcyclists believed to have been involved in the incident.

The public is urged to come forward with any relevant information or dashcam footage that may aid the ongoing investigation.
