Alcaraz downs Shelton to win Paris Masters for first time
The seven-time Grand Slam champion gained a measure of revenge on Ben Shelton, who ended his US Open title defence earlier this season.
Carlos Alcaraz secured the Paris Masters title on Sunday, defeating Ben Shelton 7-6 (7-5), 7-5. The 23-year-old claimed his ninth 1000-level title of the year, avenging his loss to Shelton at the US Open earlier in the season. Alcaraz described his victory as "special" and credited his mental strength for controlling his emotions throughout the tournament. The win marks Alcaraz's fifth tour-level title of the year, leaving world No 4 Shelton without a Masters final win.
