Food and Agriculture Minister Eric Opoku recently visited the Adomakokrom area in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo Region to inspect five poultry projects initiated under the Nkoko Nkitinkiti program. The Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of these projects, which were designed to support women’s livelihoods and enhance household incomes.
Under the initiative, each of the five women beneficiaries received 120 layer birds, feed, and battery cages to establish egg production businesses. Minister Opoku was impressed by the women's growing poultry enterprises, noting that each woman now produces around four crates of eggs daily. He also mentioned that the increasing output has attracted buyers from neighboring communities, such as Kukuom and Goaso, who travel to Adomakokrom to purchase eggs.
The Minister commended the women for their dedication to the project, emphasizing that their success demonstrates the initiative's potential to improve livelihoods when beneficiaries utilize the support effectively. Several beneficiaries who spoke to Adom News reporter Sammy Asare expressed gratitude to Minister Opoku, who is also their Member of Parliament, for selecting them for the program.
They highlighted that the initiative has significantly improved their financial stability and enabled them to better support their families. Additionally, the beneficiaries welcomed the opportunity to run their own poultry businesses and generate income through egg production.
