30th GJA Awards: Ridwan Karim Dini-Osman wins two national honors

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) honored Media General with three awards during its 30th Media Awards ceremony in Accra on Saturday night. Their documentary, "Hooked on Red," directed by Godwin Asediba for TV3, took home the Best in Television Documentary award. Stanley Nii Blewu of 3News was recognized for Best in Education Reporting, while Christian Yalley from TV3 won the Road Safety award.

Media General entered the competition with eight nominations, securing the most of any media organization among the 53 nominees. President John Dramani Mahama delivered the keynote address. "Hooked on Red" focused on the sale and misuse of Red, an illegal opioid widely available in Ghanaian communities. Asediba, who has since moved to the BBC, previously won the GJA/PAV Ansah Journalist of the Year award in 2024 and the BBC Komla Dumor Award in August 2025.

Stanley Nii Blewu's education reporting also earned him recognition, being among four Media General journalists honored at the 28th GJA Awards. Christian Yalley of TV3 secured the Road Safety award, previously shortlisted for the television features category. Media General's other nominees included Portia Gabor, Akua Oforiwaa Darko, Bill Eshun, and Eric Mensah-Ayettey, with Oforiwaa Darko shortlisted for Best in Television News and Bill Eshun for sports. Asempa FM's Philip Osei Bonsu was named Journalist of the Year.
