What discs can a PlayStation 5 play?
The PS5 can't play every disc that the PS3 and PS4 were compatible with, but most of what you'll want to play and watch is supported.
The PlayStation 5 (PS5) is capable of playing various discs, including Blu-ray movies, DVDs, and standard Blu-ray discs. It also supports Ultra HD Blu-ray discs. The PS5 is backward compatible with most PS4 games, both on disc and digital versions. This means existing PS4 physical games will continue to work on the console. However, the PS5 will not play physical PS1, PS2, or PS3 games.
While it can play some streaming services like Netflix and Disney+, it cannot play audio CDs. Sony advises against using non-circular discs shaped like a card, star, or heart, as they will be rejected.
