An estimated US$11.4 million worth of NVIDIA hardware disappeared in California two months ago when it was being transported between Oakland and Texas. The mysterious shipment, valued at roughly RM46.3 million, was picked up by a truck in California and then vanished without a trace. Police attempted to follow the truck's route, which belonged to a food transportation company, but found no signs of the shipment after it had been due for nearly a month.
This incident marks the third major theft of NVIDIA hardware in recent months, highlighting the growing demand for AI technology. Prior to this, thieves stole two trailers with NVIDIA and PlusAI logos in September, only to find 20 tons of sand inside. In October, a Brazilian hardware distributor lost two pallets of RTX 5090 GPUs at São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport, marking the first time their company had suffered such a loss in 38 years.
The theft was traced back to two forklift operators and a third individual who bypassed airport security. The stolen card was later found on OLXX, a second-hand online marketplace, being sold for nearly its original price.
