Two step-sisters killed after car skids and crashes on Plus highway near Tanjong Malim

IPOH, November 7 — In a tragic accident on the North-South Expressway (Plus) near Tanjong Malim, two step-siblings lost their lives when their vehicle skidded and crashed. Supt Khalid Mohamad, the Ipoih district police chief, reported that an 18-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries at the scene, while a six-year-old girl who sustained severe injuries passed away after receiving treatment at Slim River Hospital.

The driver, a 27-year-old man, and a 20-year-old female passenger sustained injuries and were admitted to the same hospital for further medical attention.

The incident occurred around 8:30 am when the vehicle, presumably en route from Perlis to Kuala Lumpur, reportedly lost control and crossed the left shoulder of the road, ultimately colliding with a road barrier. Authorities have classified the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and are currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.

Khalid urged any witnesses of the tragic event to reach out to Inspector Muhammad Taufiq Abd Aziz, reachable at 016-4184507, to provide valuable information for the ongoing investigation.

The Tanjong Malim Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director (Operations), Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, informed that a team from the Tanjong Malim Fire and Rescue Station was promptly deployed to the accident scene at 8:35 am following reports of the mishap.
