The HUSKERS Give Up the Lead Sooner but the Result Is the Same: Illinois 24 NEBRASKA 13 (UPDATED!)
There will be much harder questions this week as Rob Aurich’s Blackshirts join the losing streak blame party.
On November 6, 2026, the Nebraska Cornhuskers faced Illinois in a game that saw the Huskers trail early but still managed to win 24-13. Head coach Matt Rhule and athletic director Troy Dannen were present before the game, and the Cornhuskers began the half on equal footing. However, their defense struggled, allowing an early touchdown drive for Illinois, which set the tone for the rest of the game.
The offense managed to outgain Illinois 426-376, but penalties and missed opportunities plagued the Huskers. Despite outgaining Illinois in almost every statistical category, the Huskers found themselves trailing by the end of the game, ultimately losing 24-13.
