This week, Hulu offers a selection of exceptional films to watch. Among them is "Anora" (2024), a Best Picture and Palme d'Or-winning drama. Directed by Sean Baker, the film tells the story of a New York City stripper who falls into a scandal after marrying the son of a wealthy Russian oligarch. The lead actress, Mikey Madison, won the Best Actress award for her nuanced performance.
Another film to consider is "The Taste of Things" (2023), a romantic drama written and directed by Trần Anh Hùng. While it didn't receive the same acclaim as "Anora," "The Taste of Things" is a beautiful exploration of love and connection, set against the backdrop of late 1800s France. Finally, "The Banshees of Inisherin" (2022), a black comedy written and directed by Martin McDonagh, offers a stark contrast with its intense and dramatic storytelling.
The film, set on a fictional Irish island in the 1920s, features a powerful performance by Colin Farrell as he navigates the complexities of friendship and betrayal.
