Steelers Legend Sends Stern Message To Mike McCarthy Amid HC's Praise for 6-2 Start
The Pittsburgh Steelers are sitting atop their division with a 6-2 record after struggling at the start of the season. But for Steelers icon James Harrison, it is pertinent that the Steelers don’t get too comfortable.
Pittsburgh Steelers icon James Harrison has delivered a stern message to head coach Mike McCarthy amid the team's impressive 6-2 start to the season. Harrison, a two-time Super Bowl champion, emphasized on his podcast Deebo & Joe that the real challenge for McCarthy lies in transforming the team's ability to win championships, not merely to achieve consistent winning seasons.
While acknowledging McCarthy's credit for the 6-2 record, Harrison stressed that the Steelers' true goal should be to secure the Lombardi trophy at the conclusion of the season. The Pittsburgh Steelers, currently sitting atop their division, have made significant strides since a sluggish start. Following a 2-2 record after the first four games, the team turned things around, winning four consecutive matches and clinching the top spot in the AFC North with a 27-6 victory against the Cleveland Browns.
Head coach McCarthy highlighted the team's improved run defense and the outstanding performances of running backs Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle as key factors in their recent success. The Steelers now have a bye week before facing division rival Cincinnati in Week 10, which should provide the team with some much-needed rest.
