Startup Founder Interview: Brief Is Building the AI CRM Influencer Marketing Teams Have Been Missing

Welcome to HackerNoon's Writing Prompts! I would like to try my hand at answering some of these questions. The link for the template is HERE. My startup is called "Brief," an AI CRM for influencer marketing. The time is now right for Brief to exist because influencer marketing is a core budget line for most brands, and teams are still using inefficient methods like WhatsApp and spreadsheets.

AI technology has advanced enough to automate the coordination layer that has been causing issues for these teams. Two years ago, AI wasn't advanced enough, but in two years, every major player will likely incorporate it. Right now, I am the only person on the team, which helps me better understand the customer's needs, as I have been managing influencer campaigns for six years across 1,000+ campaigns and $5M in spend.

If I wasn't building Brief, I would still be managing influencer campaigns and complaining about the lack of good tools. Currently, I measure success through paying customers and retention, focusing on teams that continue using Brief monthly as it is integral to their business operations. Brief offers an AI-powered platform for managing influencer marketing campaigns, from briefs to invoices, simplifying creator partnerships and content approvals.

The most exciting aspect of my traction so far is the rapid development from an MVP in under a day to being on Lovable, with over 100 hours of usage and securing the first paying customer. This quick turnaround indicates that there is real demand for the product. Looking ahead, my goal for next year is to onboard 50 paying teams, with an average monthly subscription of $799.

My first paying customer is a small influencer marketing team that perfectly fits the target profile for Brief. My biggest threat is not competitors but rather ensuring that Brief remains the most effective solution by continuously moving faster, staying close to the customer, and building the exact features they need, rather than just offering features that look good on paper.

Brief was recently accepted into LvlUp Labs Marketing Edge Accelerator and has secured initial funding.

Two coding agents broke each other's code on different laptops. So I built them a control tower on Switch.

A first-timer's guide to Switch, through the project I built for Flip the Switch: Detente, traffic control for coding agents.

  • Two coding agents caused build failures by interfering with each other's code on separate laptops.
  • Team developed Switch control tower on Switch device to prevent conflicts.
  • Detente agent monitors conversations and clears flight plans for coding agents.
