The Lo Romero road, connecting Pinar de Campoverde and Lo Romero Golf to the Region of Murcia, has been severely damaged by heavy rain in late October and early November. Nearly 200 litres of rain per square metre fell in the area, causing significant flooding and damage. The crossing at the Cañada de las Siete Higueras is particularly affected, with floodwater rising above the road and eroding the ground beneath the tarmac.

Sections of the road are barely wide enough for one vehicle, and parts of the verge have been washed away. Residents, farm lorries, and a school bus all use the route daily. Mayor José María Pérez and infrastructure councillor Rufino Lancharro inspected the damage with municipal engineers. Emergency repairs will focus on the watercourse crossing, with crews using crushed stone and gravel to fill the washout.

The aim is to rebuild the rock retaining structure and install illuminated warning signs to make the crossing safer while keeping the road open. Residents have been calling for improvements for years, including resurfacing and widening the road, which currently suffers from potholes, steep drops, and difficulty passing oncoming vehicles.
