PECTAA New Smart Syllabus for Punjab Boards 9th Class Exams 2027

The Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority (PECTAA) has announced a revised syllabus for Class 9 students in Punjab for the 2026-27 academic year and upcoming annual examinations. The Smart Syllabus, approved on November 6, 2026, includes a reduced curriculum, deleted topics and questions, updated pairing schemes, and model papers.

This change was approved by the Academics Committee during their 13th meeting on November 5, 2026. The main purpose is to help students finish their studies within the academic calendar.

In this revised syllabus, several topics and chapters have been removed from various subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, English, Urdu, and Islamic Studies. For instance, the entire chapter on Logic has been dropped from Mathematics, while Biostatistics has been excluded from Biology. Chemistry also sees significant reductions, with chapters on Empirical Data Collection and Analysis, and Laboratory and Practical Skills being omitted.

English teachers are now expected to concentrate on the remaining eight units, discarding the syllabus of three units altogether.

PECATAspecific reductions in other subjects like Physics, Urdu, and Islamic Studies are also part of the new curriculum. The revised syllabus will be applicable across all nine Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) in Punjab, namely Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur.

PECTAA has instructed its IT department to post the notification, revised syllabus, pairing schemes, and model papers on its official website. Students and educators can access these detailed subject-wise documents through the official PECTAA website to effectively prepare for the 2027 board exams.
