Okafor downs Tottenham to earn Leeds first win since September

Striker Noah Okafor delivered a decisive performance as Leeds United secured their first Premier League win since September, defeating Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road. The Swiss international combined with substitute Harry Wilson 11 minutes from time to net the only goal of the match, less than two minutes after coming on as a replacement. This crucial goal, Okafor's second of the season, proved decisive, earning Leeds three crucial points in their first win in six matches and ending Tottenham's three-game winning streak.

The victory came despite a controversial incident during the first half that threatened to impact the outcome. Tottenham manager Roberto de Zerbi was furious after referee John Brooks ruled out a red card for Leeds defender Jayden Bogle following a reckless challenge on Mathys Tel. The VAR check lasted over four minutes, during which time tempers flared between the two managers. Unfortunately for de Zerbi, Tel was subsequently substituted due to injury, replaced by Dominic Solanke.

Solanke made an immediate impact in the second half, clearing a corner off the line with a header five minutes into the period. However, it was Okafor who ultimately secured the crucial victory. He pounced on a loose ball inside the penalty area, smashing the ball past Antonin Kinsky to secure Leeds their first win over Tottenham since May 2021. This victory lifted Leeds to eighth in the table, while Tottenham dropped to 10th following their first defeat in five matches.
