Nasarawa police arrest two over murder of 50-year-old man, recover decomposed body from well in Karu

The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended two individuals in connection with the murder of a 50-year-old man, Jude Thaddeus, also known as Musa, whose decomposed body was found in a well at his residence in Aku Village, Base 5, Karu Local Government Area. The incident came to light on November 3 after Musa's 46-year-old sister, Jennifer Alain, from Abuja, expressed concern over his absence and inability to contact him.

Further investigations led to the arrest of suspect Yusuf Musa, 23, who had been employed by the deceased to care for his animals for three months. The police claim Musa took over the victim's phone and misinformed callers that the deceased, who he claimed was his father, had traveled to England. He also allegedly stole and sold valuable items, including scrap metals and industrial engines, for ₦3.4 million.

Police believe Musa confessed to the murder and directed officers to the well where the body was hidden and subsequently burned. Another suspect, Victor Zamani, 32, has also been apprehended for allegedly receiving stolen property. Police are still searching for a third suspect. The Commissioner of Police has ordered the case to be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
