Nancy wants 42,000 men to seek health support and join family decisions

Shah Alam, November 7 — The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) has set its sights on enrolling 42,000 men in government-provided well-being services, aiming to heighten awareness of healthcare's significance among the male population. This initiative also encourages men to collaborate with their partners in seeking pertinent health information and services when making decisions regarding family health.

Speaking at the Selangor International Trade Centre (SITC), KPWKM Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri emphasized the importance of joint decision-making on family health between men and women. The event marked the launch of National Family Month 2026, attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim alongside his wife, Bandar Tun Razak MP Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Deputy KPWKM Minister Lim Hui Ying, and Selangor State Executive Councillor for Women and Community Welfare Anfaal Saari.

Nancy revealed that the government had earmarked RM4.355 billion for KPWKM within the 2027 budget, marking a RM168 million increase from the previous year. This allocation, almost RM3.3 billion, is dedicated to welfare assistance, bolstering the social safety net, and enhancing the well-being of those in need. For couples grappling with fertility issues, the Fertility Treatment Assistance and Infertility Advocacy Programme (BuAI), managed by the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN), offers treatment assistance to 2,000 eligible couples.

In 2025, the programme assisted 82,679 individuals, with 1,658 Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) treatment cycles resulting in 184 confirmed pregnancies. Nancy highlighted the critical role of early detection of fertility problems and accessibility to treatment by qualified specialists in addressing these challenges.
